How old does the vehicle have to be before we can import into Canada? For example, one (1) or two (2) years?
Answer:
There are no requirements on the year of vehicles being imported into Canada from the United States. Before purchasing and importing a vehicle, find out about the Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) program, vehicle admissibility, RIV exemptions, recall clearance documentation, vehicle modification requirements and vehicle branding history.
However, vehicles imported from countries other than the United States are required to be more than 15 years old on the date of importation. These vehicles are not required to meet the admissibility of the Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) program.
