The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will begin implementing the third phase, known as eManifest, of the Advance Commercial Information Program. Trade partners in all modes of transportation will be required to electronically provide CBSA with cargo conveyance, crew/passengers, secondary and importer data before goods arrive in Canada.
For highway carriers, the Canada Border Services Agency will include an eManifest function to their current electronic data interchange (EDI) beginning in October 31, 2010. Testing labs for highway carriers are now available. The CBSA will offer an eManifest Portal transmission option in early 2011.
